Aging / Sun Damage |
Treatment Results |
Sun damage results in spots or skin imperfections on the sun-exposed areas on the body. The changes in the skin color associated with sun damaged skin include brown spots, mottled or patchy skin, liver spots and age spots.
75% of what is considered signs of aging is actually signs of sun damage. Since you were a child, you were exposed to the sun — and 20 to 30 years later is when you first notice the consequence.
Aging is not limited to just the surface of the skin. Time and photo (sun) damage take a toll upon each layer of our skin and supportive tissues. Diminished sebum production creates a dull, lifeless and perhaps discolored appearance with little fine wrinkle lines. The crumbling collagen and elastic fibers leads to further wrinkle formation, sagging, and increased bruising and overall skin fragility often leading to a sunken, tired appearance.
Our office treats these spots with the Quantum SR laser which carefully removes the spots in a painless manner. We also treat general sun damage with chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and laser skin resurfacing.
